Interview

　今日はSGHの時に行ったOxford研修で出会ったSam さんとAmyさんにZoomでインタビューを3年生が行いました。お二人は当時はOxford大学の学生さんでしたが、今は教師としてイギリスで働いていらっしゃいます。

これはSunshine3 の単元にある“記者会見を開こう”を本校生徒の実態に合わせて、変更した言語活動になります。

生徒は一人３つから４つの質問を考えて、Zoomで質問をし、その内容や他の生徒の聞いた内容をもとにエッセイを書きました。

質問は、課題研究に関する質問、イギリスの文化、経済、環境などに関する質問を作成しました。時差があるためロンドンは７：００，宮崎では１６：００だったので、お二人には出勤前の貴重な時間を割いていただきました。

 






以下は生徒達の書いた感想です。

He told us many things about the U.K. First, tomatoes are used in many dishes in the U.K. For example, Bolognese, pizza,　sandwiches, ketchup, etc. He didn’t know about sweets that use tomatoes.　Second, cycling is very popular in the U.K. Many people that ride bicycles hit a guardrail because there are so many roads that have many curves. I learned British roads are very dangerous. His talk was very interesting. I took an interest in British history and culture.（3年女子）

I had an interview with Amy. I asked two questions. First, I asked “Do you like Japanese tea?” Then she said “Yes, like it very much.” Second, I asked “Do you know kamairicha?” But she didn’t know kamairicha. Other students asked many questions. For example, somebody asked “How was the Tokyo Olympics?” So she said “I enjoyed it very much. I watched ping-pong.” I can’t get chances like this easily. I want to thank Amy and Sam.（3年男子）

I learned the importance of smiles and kindness from Sam and Amy. I was very nervous because we had to talk to a native speaker. However, there was no need to worry. Sam and Amy were always smiling and listened to our questions. If they couldn’t understand our English, they asked us to repeat the words again and tried to answer accurately. At the end of the interview, I showed Amy gratitude. “Thank you for your time. We aren’t good at English yet. But we’ll study English more.” She smiled and said “I’m sure you can progress in your English if you continue to want to improve it.” I am encouraged by her words, her smile and her kindness.（3年女子）

I learned a lot of things from Amy. I asked a question. I said “Is skiing popular in the U.K.?” She said “No, it isn’t. Skiing isn’t popular in the U.K. But skiing is very popular in Europe.” I knew British people liked skiing. I think England is very warm in the winter. I knew British people knew skiing. I didn’t understand English. I think I have to study English more and more. I’m glad to have the experience.（3年男子）

I talked with Amy about our questions. So I chose one question. “Is running popular in the U.K.?” This answer was so important for me because I am a member of the track and field team. She answered yes. I gave a sigh of relief. According to her, most people listen to music while running in the park. Incidentally, I usually talk with my friend.  I learned that English is a good communication tool from this interview. （3年男子）

　
コロナの関係でイギリス研修が無くなってしまったけれど、自分達にできることがあれば、ということで現5年生にはイギリスのお菓子を送ってくれたり、今回の3年生にはインタビューに答えてくれたりと、生徒達のために尽力して下さいました。SGHの時に出来たご縁に感謝するばかりです。今回の活動を通して「もっと英語を勉強しなければ」という感想や英語を学ぶ意義について気づきを得た生徒やお二人の人柄に感銘を受けた生徒など多くの学びを得たようです。是非今後につないでほしいと思います。（津上）
